A coalition of 86 civil society organizations and the Internet, including Mozilla, World Wide Web Foundation and Greenpeace USA, today launched an online campaign to urge the U.S. Congress to disclose all the details of spyware Security Agency Country National (NSA).
The organizations have created web StopWatching.us containing a citizen petition to urge Congress to launch a full investigation and reveal the full extent of surveillance programs and Internet telephone NSA revealed last week by the British newspaper "The Guardian".
The request came with a letter from the coalition to several congressional leaders, who asked to create a special committee to "investigate, report and disclose to the public the extent of this domestic spying."
"This committee should develop specific recommendations for legal and regulatory reform to end the unconstitutional surveillance," says the letter, which also calls for those responsible for that eavesdropping "accountable".
Organizations also request that, during the current term, Congress reformed Section 215 of the 2001 terrorist law, which expanded the government's spying powers, as well as other law of 2008 which amended FISA legislation in 1978 to give more monitoring the executive authorities.
The aim of these reforms should be "ensure widespread monitoring Internet activity and phone records of any person residing in the United States is prohibited by law, and that violations can be reviewed in open court", the letter said.
Among the signatories is also the Union of American Civil Liberties (ACLU), which today filed a further complaint against the government of President Barack Obama for the same thing.
Also include social network Reddit or the Internet Archive digital library.
Edward Snowden, technician who worked for four years to contractors linked to the NSA, has revealed details of two secret espionage programs: one that records your calls in the U.S. and a second that allows U.S. intelligence access servers of major Internet companies to seek connections with international terrorism.
