CaixaBank has obtained a net gain of 33 million euros after selling 3.7% of the capital stock of Grupo Financiero Inbursa (GFI), the financial arm of Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim, to Inmobiliaria Carso, owned by the family of tycoon.
In total, CaixaBank Slim family sold 250 million shares of GFI at a price of 26 pesos (1.52 euros), leaving the total amount of 6,500 million pesos (387 million euros), as reported Friday the entity to National Securities Market Commission (CNMV). Following this transaction, CaixaBank still holds a 16.3% interest in the outstanding shares of GFI.
In the coming days, the financial institution shall submit to the National Banking and Securities Mexican prospectus an amendment made to the preliminary placement of shares of GFI. The aim is to carry out an offer and start the sales and promotion efforts for placement of more than 423 million shares of GFI, representing 6.4% of its capital, as explained CaixaBank Spanish regulator.
After this offering, which is expected to complete this month or next, CaixaBank would get between 9% and 9.9% of the shares of GFI. The company has indicated that, in this way, remains committed to the project of GFI "and with its major shareholders," with whom he has signed a new agreement to govern their relationship.
