The Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, announced Wednesday that, contrary to his campaign promises, will raise VAT by three points, from 18% to 21%, to meet deficit reduction goals. The reduced rate, meanwhile, goes from 8% to 10% while the super stays at 4%. Also up to snuff taxation. They are also subject to reduced rate tickets to cultural events (cinemas, theaters, circuses, concerts, libraries, museums, exhibitions).
Among the goods subject to super tax rate (which remains at 4%) are the basic necessities like bread and cereal processing, milk, cheese and eggs, fruits, vegetables, legumes and tubers natural books, newspapers and magazines, car and prosthetics for the disabled and public housing for special arrangements.
