The Economy Minister Luis de Guindos, and the owner German Finance Wolfgang Schäuble, consider that the high price of Spanish public debt "does not correspond to the fundamentals of its economy." This was secured in a joint statement issued on Tuesday afternoon. It encourages to "full implementation" of measures agreed in exchange for Spanish bank bailout and "the rapid implementation of decisions of the European Council of June 29," which agreed to establish a joint bank with a body single supervisor. The two ministers held an informal meeting on Tuesday several hours in the German capital.
Before the meeting, both the German government spokesmen as their Spanish counterparts subtracted importance to the meeting, which would be an "exchange of views" on the financial situation. The joint statement does not contradict these previous announcements: it contains only previously known elements and one laudatory description of the "vital steps" taken by the Spanish government "to re-position the economy on track." With this reading, no one would say that the visit came days after two crashes in European markets, with the risk premium of Spain at unsustainable levels.
The most influential German media dealt with the headlines on Tuesday the financial problems of the Spanish autonomous. The most widespread speculation about the opaque Spanish visit focused on the demands that the European Central Bank (ECB) to intervene in markets to buy bonds and cut and bleeding from the Spanish public debt. In Spain it is recalled that Guindos Schäuble visited just a week before applying for the bank bailout of 100,000 million euros and speculates on new appeals for help from the European institutions.
In the statement hardly appeals to the rapid implementation of European agreements
The Germans were attending the meeting a day after the rating agency Moody's downgraded the credit outlook of Germany, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. The three hold the prized triple A, which helps to continue to be financed cheaply in credit markets, but Moody's sees a double threat to their economies: first, the risk increasing that Greece leave the euro zone and thereby unleashing a financial earthquake of European dimensions. In addition, the agency believes that German participation in the financial recates partners could drag into serious problems if the crisis deepens Spanish or Italian. Before meeting with Guindos, Schäuble defended the German debt remain a "safe harbor" for investors.
Angela Merkel on Wednesday began their summer holidays, so it was his second spokesman Georg Streiter responsible for recall on Tuesday that "the foreign minister warned that Germany already has its limitations." He referred to the June speech to the Bundestag Merkel prepared for the G20 summit in Los Cabos. Germany, then said, "do not have unlimited forces."
The day you came to Berlin Guindos landed in Athens drivers the troika of the European Central Bank (ECB), European Commission and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). In Berlin and speaks with great calm of the possibility, taboo until recently, that Greece leave the euro. The Economy Minister Philipp Rösler Liberal (FDP), said on Sunday night "more than skeptical" about the progress of reforms in Greece. The secretary general of his party Patrick Döring directly recommended that the Greeks abandon the single currency and return to the drachma. Europe, he says, "has enough tools" to confront the Greek output. The Greek government criticized the German liberals to "hinder the efforts" of his country out of crisis. German opposition also labeled a "irresponsible."

Since the government refuses environment for weeks any chance that Merkel come to Parliament (Bundestag) to request funding for a third Greek rescue. The Süddeutsche Zeitung on Monday collected the most recent statements of "government sources", which described as "unthinkable." The political situation in Athens these days focused the attention of the media and German leaders, who have left to defend tooth and nail to remain in Greece between the 17 euro countries.
In this atmosphere of general uncertainty and the triple A by Moody's staggering, doubts about Merkel's European policy has shifted from political offices to their chairs. For weeks dozens of leading German economists are waging a public discussion between the liberal-conservative critics of the bailouts and in favor of more flexible policies. The Conservatives published three weeks ago a letter critical of the European bailouts signed by 250 economists. He found the famous replica of the recates party colleagues as Peter Bofinger, a member of the group of scientists that advises the government. They accuse the signatories to defend positions "nationalists". A leader of the professors Walter Krämer antirrescate called Bofinger now says is "a useless academic." Citizens, for now, largely ignored these rifirrafes and continue to support the chancellor in the popularity polls and in voting intention.
