Heat and drought at very high levels, coupled with complaints about cuts in fire plans, did portend a very dangerous summer in the Spanish mountains and well being. A summer start is preceded by a year that was already difficult. Between 1 January and 15 July in Spain burned 90,000 hectares of forest, which exceeds 84,500 it brushed across 2011.
