A smoothie or juice, cookies and a piece of fruit for breakfast. And a picnic luncheon sandwich. The regional government has begun to implement on Monday in a hundred schools of the decree of solidarity and food security, which includes three meals a day. In total, about 11,000 children have received a bag with snacks and breakfast. The lunch and they did so far in schools for free.
The program, which aims to reach from fall to about 48,000 school-has begun to implement in schools located in so-called "social transformation zones", where social services account for daily work. One of these centers is the leader Miguel Rosa, located in Seville. In his college studying 400 children and 89 are within the exclusion program that includes all three meals. Social services have been responsible for selecting students more difficult situation. "Parents were informed and gave their consent, they sent a letter," said Rosa.
Principals and caterers charge of preparing the food bags have asked discretion in the cast. The ministries of Education and Health and Social Welfare, who coordinate the program, try to avoid stigmatizing students from families with fewer resources, which are the beneficiaries of the plan. "We have called for greater discretion in the world. The list of children only know the address of the center and we work with numbers," said Jose Luis Sanchez, Malaga manager of a catering company that serves 16 schools in several provinces of Andalusia .
This company has produced 1,200 bags on Monday with breakfast and afternoon tea. Monitors that are responsible for room service were in charge of distribute when children were leaving school. The on Monday contained a smoothie, biscuits, a piece of fruit and a cooked turkey sandwich. The daily cost per student is between the euro and two euros, explains Sánchez.
Luis Sosa goes another Sevilla caterer serving meals to 60 schools in the province. On Monday, 1,020 bags were distributed with breakfast and afternoon tea. However, the bulk of the plan will be launched next year (this alone will have three weeks during the summer and will be responsible for distribution of meals NGOs). In a second phase, which will be closed between October and November, will reach about 48,000 students. The cost of the plan, according to the Board, around two million euros.
"The bipartisan [referring to PSOE and IU, which govern together in the community] would have to worry about creating jobs and wealth, not alms measures", was the balance that has made the Andalusian PP beginning of the plan.
