Unions of ground workers and cabin crew Iberia finalize schedule demonstrations and strikes that would affect the second half of February, after the breakdown of negotiations with the management of the airline on the new restructuring plan.
The representatives of the staff, except for pilots, met on Monday following the decision of International Airlines Group (IAG), the holding company created by the merger of Iberia and British Airways in 2011, to proceed with the reduction in capacity operating 15% by 2013 under the initial plan of adjustment. Finally, organizations have not given date waiting to occur next meeting Interconfederal Service Mediation and Arbitration (SIMA). But it appears that the demonstrations will begin on 18 February.
Unions CCOO, UGT, USO, CTA Flight SITCPLA and advanced Asetma likely convene Friday that at least five consecutive days of strike in the second half of February, introducing the "notice of contentiousness" Interconfederal Service Mediation and Arbitration (SIMA).
The six unions have described as "blackmail" the latest proposal from the direction of Iberia which foresees a reduction of the workforce of 3,147 people, 30% less than initially. It also raises a wage decrease of 11% for ground staff and 23% for flight attendants, compared with the previous reduction of 25% and 35%, respectively. Unions complain that IAG has disavowed the progress made under the SIMA.
