The Government extended the PIVE, Incentive Plan to purchase efficient vehicles, the executive program designed to subsidize the purchase of vehicles and ended on 10 January. The new PIVE, with 150 million endowment, public funding doubles defunct program. This week the employer's motor, Anfac, performed a very positive assessment of the plan. From October 1, the additional 25,000 vehicles PIVE added to annual sales in just three months of operation, said Anfac. Also contributed to the Treasury a fund of 296 million euros, the result of a public subsidy of only 75 million.
Manufacturers also noted that thanks to the initiative of the Government remained 4,500 jobs in the automotive sector, one third of which were newly created. The renewal of the fleet was another point to highlight. Up to 75,000 vehicles with an average age of 17 years were removed from the Spanish roads, which according Anfac has helped reduce emissions and improve road safety.
The PIVE contributed 296 million revenue in the last three months of the year
The PIVE, similar to earlier plans Renove, allows the scrapping of cars older than age 12 and light commercial vehicles in excess of ten from its first registration. This encourages the replacement with high-efficiency models with better equipment and safety of expensive cars from environmentally and safety. The amount of public support provided by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism is 1,000 euros per car, which are joined by a discount of $ 1,000 provided by the manufacturer or importer of the new vehicle.
The vice president of the employers, Mario Armero, warned this week that the plan is not extended car sales in Spain fall this year to 630,000 units, which would be the lowest in history. "We know that the government is working on it, but we do not hear about it," added Armero, who stressed that what Spain needs is ideas "productive and useful" as PIVE Plan which he said had been "a success" had been very well designed.
In his opinion, the combination of a new plan and an economic recovery in the second half of the year, could boost sales of passenger cars and commercial vehicles up to 850,000 and 900,000 units, which would be a "success" for the industry and for the country.
Now, with a new Pive with double funding, the prospects for a key sector for the Spanish economy significantly improve.
