Enters into force energy certification for buildings for sale or rent

The mandatory energy certification for buildings for sale or for rent for periods exceeding four months comes into effect tomorrow and will be an annual saving of 32,000 tonnes of oil equivalent (toe), as recalled by the Ministry of Industry today.
That is the assessment of the Administration, assuming it carried out the recommendations for improving the energy efficiency certification aimed at 10% of the buildings evaluated and got an average savings of 20% with the adoption of the recommended measures.
The rule affects new buildings and those existing are sold or leased, except historical and artistic buildings, places of worship and use temporary housing with less than four months a year.
According to the Ministry, the energy rating must be included in any offer, promotion or advertising to the sale or lease and the autonomous communities will establish the registration of certificates.
The aim of the measure is to encourage savings and efficiency and allow consumers to assess and compare the impact of energy costs and CO2 emissions in buying or renting a home.
The certificate shall be valid for ten years and differentiate the letter grade from A to G, for primary energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
