Banks operating in Spain saw its net profit fall 63.7% overall between January and September to 3.386 million euros, due to the crisis and the intense effort in period provisions, which will continue in the fourth quarter, so that the annual result will be "modest."
The announcement was made Tuesday at a press conference the secretary general of the Spanish Banking Association (AEB), Pedro Pablo Villasante, who recalled that between September 2007 and December 2012 the bank has provided a total of EUR 125 581 000 provisions and writedowns, largely by demand for the new banking regulations.
And they have done "against results", which hampers the accounts and has already resulted in the red for some individual entities, such as the CAM Bank, acquired by Sabadell, which recorded a loss of 1,432 million euros until the end of September.
