The Minister of Economy and Competitiveness Luis de Guindos, stressed today that the credit line of up to 100,000 million euros that the EU allocated to clean up the Spanish financial system is used only for the recapitalization of banks.
In an appearance after his meeting with regional leaders of the PP, De Guindos has said further that the amount to be allocated to clean up Spanish banks will be "substantially less than 100,000 million euros," the maximum amount granted by the Eurogroup.
The Government believes that it will be used more than 60,000 of the 100,000 million agreed
"The amount to recapitalize the banking system will be substantially less than the credit line, in the line of Oliver Wyman 60,000 million, and will dispel doubts about the sector," said.
