Recipients of lottery prizes should share with the public purse his fortune from next year. The Finance Minister Cristobal Montoro, has announced a 20% tax on profits above 2,500 euros, as one of the new tax measures included in the draft law on the State Budget approved by the Government today.
The estimated revenue for these awards, so far exempt from tax at the time of receipt except for yields that generate successive-is estimated at 824 million euros for the year.
So far, according to Law 35/2006 Tax Personal Income Physics (PIT), apart from the National Lottery, also were exempt from taxation the remaining prizes sweepstakes managed by State Lotteries, as Primitiva, Euromillions or Bonoloto. Nor taxed winnings distributed Red Cross and ONCE.
In 2009 the European courts had the right to a taxpayer Spanish and since then not pay taxes in Spain awarded citizens in another country of the European Union in a sweepstakes similar to those managed by State Lotteries, and until then we were taxed.
