Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism Jose Manuel Soria, advanced in Congress on Wednesday that his department will soon present new reforms of the electricity sector in order to achieve a mix of energy sources "balanced" and without tariff deficit.
Soria was announced during an interpellation of the Socialist spokesman on the subject, Jose Segura, who called for "comprehensive reform of the national energy system" instead of "pure economic reforms to combat tariff deficit" that, in his opinion, are the have been addressed to date.
Moreover, the next electric bill will be an average of 6.9 euros more expensive than the last, from 1 October, according to the Spanish Confederation of Housewives, Consumers and Users (Ceaccu).
The rise is due to the announced rate cuts of 2.2% will be insufficient to offset the increase in VAT from 18% to 21% from 1 September and rebills between August and December.
