The BBVA easily exceeds resistance tests performed on the occasion banking bailout of Spain to recapitalize its financial sector. The group's capital ratio (common equity tier 1) after exercise stress and the more adverse scenario of raised, would stand at 9.6%, 3.6 points above the minimum required.
"The results confirm that the most negative scenario referred to in this analysis, BBVA maintain capital levels above the minimum required," said the company in a terse note sent to the CNMV.
In the particular struggle to maintain Santander and BBVA is the first one that has a higher excess capital in the adverse scenario both in absolute terms (what is normal, as their size is much larger) and relative, as the Santander just testing solvency 9.8% and BBVA, with 9.6%.
The BBVA has excess capital of 11.183 million in the adverse scenario and 10.945 million in the baseline scenario, in which the level of solvency required is 9%.
