The fresh air of freedom of expression which spread by Morocco after the death of Hassan II has become a stifling atmosphere for foreign journalists and more particularly to the Spanish press. The Moroccan media have aired without fear from the arrival to the throne of Mohammed VI, a king who announced promises of modernization and progress to its people, government scandals and criticism of the monarchy, have even discussed the thorny issue of Western Sahara open mind. But after the dismantling of the camp crisisdesatadapor Saharawi Agdaym Izik on Monday, the regime has called the local press to close ranks in defense of "national unity" while Spanish media blamed racism and distort the truth in reporting about the events of Laayoune, the former colonial capital.
Minister for Communication and the Moroccan government spokesman, Khalid Naciri, Spanish media have fallen into a drift "racist and hateful" towards Rabat. In a press conference last night, government spokesman denounced Rabat various media, including the country.
"These same means we are accustomed to long, particularly as regards our Sahara, about a piecemeal approach and a lack of ethical extremely serious. It is proven that it simply is not professional misconduct or biased readings of events "Naciri added. "In fact, witnessing the systematic use of deceptive procedures, techniques, vile, despicable manipulations, montages and unclean about the different Spanish media, news agencies, newspapers, radio, television, web pages ..."
The minister added that "this is how the Spanish news agency Efe, who has not hesitated to spread hateful lies about the existence of bodies in the streets of Laayoune spreading the image of Palestinian children in Gaza bombing victims in 2006 falsely presented as victims of the events in the Sahara. " Naciri obviated the rectification of the agency Efe, and that means as the country have made self-criticism on the dissemination of that picture without checking its origin.
"We should also mention the outrageous behavior of the Spanish newspaper ABC correspondent in Morocco, which was allowed to qualify our country of dictatorship, and the Moroccan settlers, this same reporter had lied announcing that the streets of Aaíunm were full of corpses, while is established that Moroccan security forces have resorted to firearms as is established by the testimony of Moroccan NGOs, and credible national and international organizations, "said the minister. [The correspondent of ABC in Morocco since 2002, Luis de Vega, was informed on Friday that he withdrew the accreditation of foreign journalists. "There has been no official communication. But I have made it known that I can not work," said De la Vega from Rabat].
Naciri said that "the journalist Ignacio Cembrero COUNTRY allowed to publish on the web page of his newspaper, a statement attributed to coordination exist in the camp of El Aaiíun demanding 'self-determination for the Saharawi people." The minister acknowledged that the country withdrew shortly after having confirmed information if inaccurate.
Rabat, finally, openly accuses the team of Cadena SER "clandestine exercise [your profession] in Morocco." "This is an appeal to hatred and incitement to violence. It is also a serious manipulation of the Spanish public opinion, to exacerbate their feelings against Morocco in order to rebound against him in a truly hateful and racist drift "concluded Naciri
Meanwhile, the French journalist Guillaume of Spain Radio Exterior Bontoux is "held incommunicado and without passports" allegedly in Laayoune airport, pending deportation, sources told Efe Spanish. These sources said that Bontoux has sent an SMS text message, written with apparent haste, which just happens to mention the words "airport, incommunicado, without passports" and "expulsion."
