Synopsis[edit]
David Norton (Hutton) is used to being in control. As a best-selling science fiction author, he decides the fate of his characters; his heroes, his villains, their lives and deaths.He is invited to an idyllic Mediterranean island for a conference. His fiancee receives a strange call and jumps to her death from their hotel balcony. Soon after that, David discovers he has been lured into a trap.
As he begins piecing answers together, people start inexplicably committing suicide all around him. Now David has become the reluctant hero of his own living story, and this time he has no idea how it will end.

Plot [ edit]David Norton (Timothy Hutton) is an American author of science fiction novels . Norton was invited to the island of Mallorca to lecture , and some get a series of mysterious suicides , including his girlfriend , Jane (Georgia Mackenzie ) occur . Silvia ( Lucía Jiménez ) is a young tourist who has survived his own suicide attempt, which was triggered by a hidden force from a song he heard. Silvia shares the hospital room with Norton 's fiancee before it dies . Later, in his hotel room , Silvia begins to feel similar to that led her to attempt suicide , but she is interrupted by a push button , and decides to leave the island as soon as possible . At the airport, his passport stolen Norton and exchange it for a role in which is written "suicide" . Silvia go there to recognize Norton and asks for help after witnessing another suicide at the airport.
Norton takes Silvia hotel and asks him to remember what happened . Silvia recalls that before jumping out the window received a phone call and heard music . After investigating another mysterious suicide that occurred that day , they discover that another of the victims received a call that was saved as Gloomy Sunday - a famous song that was allotted hundreds of suicides - as happened to Silvia . Norton tells Silvia that Gloomy Sunday is a damn song that will always attributed a wave of suicides, and who knows the history that formed the basis for his first novel.
The duo returns to the building where the writer had given his lecture in the car and find a rug with the address bar and a note to Norton. In the bar know Frank Kovak (David Kelly) who gives his life a few documents that tell how he had been doing mind control experiments on humans, some of them based on the plot of the novel by Norton. Silvia try going to tell the story to the police, but the taxi begins to hear the damn song manages to save Norton barely.
Norton returned to the hospital and found a mark on the neck of his wife Silvia also carries , so it follows that there carry some hidden microchip that actively suicidal impulses . Silvia is also the man who attacked her in the hotel , so they decide to kidnap him to ask for explanations . The attacker is a surgeon who is being blackmailed by Kovak , because you have a chip implanted him and his son and gives a list of people who also have a chip. Also confesses that the delivery of the list is part of plans Kovak (which causes it to activate the microchip cause his "suicide " because Norton has a hidden microphone).
Norton realizes that Kovak is doing this because he wants to write his story , so shouts that is willing to work and he takes them to his mansion. Indeed , Kovak has cancer and you want someone to write your story to become famous . Norton also see that the list corresponds to the passengers of the plane where Norton had flown to Mallorca and they all (including Silvia who has been kidnapped ) will die in the tour of " The Caves of Hell" visit. Norton fails to prevent the slaughter but survives Silvia burying his head in the water to not hear the song.
Finally , Norton has a confrontation with Kovak in which he explains that his intention is to kill him not to suffer the pains of cancer and to write the story of what happened to go down to posterity . Norton initially refuses , but ends up shooting and killing Kovak to realize that the only way this let live Silvia and prevent U.S. intelligence Kovak seek to co-opt and use it for their own purposes . Silvia Norton says goodbye and leaves Mallorca plane. During the trip , he decided to start writing the story of what happened.
Production [ edit]Filmed over 8 weeks in different locations of Mallorca, and for 3 weeks in the city of Madrid. Directed by Daniel Monzón ( The Biggest Robbery Never Told , The Heart of the Warrior and Cell 211 ) . The cast includes Timothy Hutton , who won the Oscar for Best Actor for the film Ordinary People in the '80s ] and Lucía Jiménez , who also sings the main theme of the Original Soundtrack of the movie, the classic Gloomy Sunday . Also include the British actress Annette Badland and the great Irish actor David Kelly, the central role of the antagonist Kovak .
In this film have been used 2,000 extras, most of whom are on the island of Mallorca. Some of the places that have been used to shoot this film have been the Palma de Mallorca ( and was used for recording the largest ever cash robbery) , the Tito's nightclub , located on the seafront in Palma de Mallorca, the district of Sa Calatrava, and some of the roads on the island , such as Soller Formentor or up to the estate of Son Rossinyol , S'Estaca farm ( the residence of Michael Douglas ) and Costa Nord Cultural Centre Deya ( Majorca ) . The " Caves of Hell" imaginary are at Formentor , the interior scenes were shot in the caves of Drach .
Topics [ edit]The film takes as one of its main features the famous "cursed" Gloomy Sunday song Rezső Hungarian Seress . In this song were attributed hundreds of suicides, and this has become a legend urbana.1 2
