Unemployment fell in the first quarter of this year in six regions and did more in La Rioja and Andalusia , with decreases of 4.15% and 4.04% , respectively, and rose in the rest , more Balearic , with 14.06 % , and Aragon , with 10.93 %. This improvement in unemployment, however, moved to the occupation with the same intensity . Employment rose only three autonomies , especially in Andalusia, with 41,700 more employed , and the largest decreases were in Valencia ( 40,900 fewer employed ), Catalonia ( 38,100 ) and Illes Balears ( 36,300 less).
As for the unemployment rate , Andalusia still the highest ( 34.94 %) and the lowest ( 17.12% ) Navarra. In total, eight communities had rates above average unemployment. Higher still the regions of southern Spain .
According to the Labour Force Survey , unemployment fell more in Andalucia ( 59,200 less ), Canary Islands (9300 ) and Madrid ( 8600 ), while the largest increases in unemployment occurred in Baleares ( 18,800 more unemployed ) and Galicia ( 16,100 ) . Also Valencia ( 14,800 ), Aragon ( 14,600 ) and Castilla -La Mancha ( 14,200 ) showed marked increases in unemployment .

In the first quarter of 2013 , unemployment fell by almost all communities and rose slightly in Cantabria ( 0.2%) and most notably in La Rioja (3.15 %) and Galicia ( 3.14% ) . The most significant decrease in percentage terms was to Asturias ( 13.18% ) , followed by Extremadura ( 12.72% ) . In absolute numbers , unemployment fell more in Catalonia ( 108,800 fewer unemployed ) and Andalusia ( 78,300 ) , and Galicia has only increased some consideration (9,100 more unemployed ) .
In the past year , employment increased in ten autonomous , more in Andalucia ( 65,200 people) , Catalonia ( 27,500) and Murcia ( 18,200 ) . For its part, the steepest declines in employment occurred in year the Community of Madrid ( 124,700 fewer employed ) and Basque Country ( 29,000) .
