Fifteen sub-Saharan arrived this morning at the beach of San Lorenzo, in Melilla, on board a boat that had recently been sighted by the Guardia Civil. The attitude of immigrants, carrying sticks and knives and disregarded all the requirements of the agents, according to the delegation of the Government of the Autonomous City, has prevented the Meritorious Marine Services could intercept the small boats at sea.
Immigrants, again according to the same sources, have maintained the same attitude only set foot on the beach, facing the agents of the Civil Guard patrols who were waiting on the ground. Five have been intercepted and retained, but the remaining ten were able to run away in different directions into Melilla.
As a result of this confrontation, six officers have received medical care for contusions and bruises. Two African immigrants have also been assisted by the emergency services of the health centers in the city.
Arrival at Chafarinas
Moreover, a group of seven sub-Saharan African, including two women, arrived last Friday at the Isle of Congress (Chafarinas Islands, located a few kilometers from the Moroccan coast), on board an inflatable boat equipped with a small motor. Immigrants are being served by the detachment of the General Command stationed at Chafarinas.
The arrival in islets and crags of Spanish sovereignty was one of the new pathways used by immigrants in 2012. In September, the arrival of dozens of immigrants to Earth Island, a small island in the bay of Alhucemas of Spanish sovereignty but practically glued to the Moroccan coast, was a real headache for the Government of Mariano Rajoy. Finally, the Administration reached an agreement with Morocco and immigrants-with the exception of children and pregnant women, who had been sent to Melilla, were returned to Moroccan soil, but at dawn and without following the procedures laid down in the law of Aliens for expulsions.
Throughout the past year, 208 immigrants tried to use this route of entry into Spain through the boulders and islets, Efe reported.
