Barcelona. (Writing and agencies.) - The cold wave that is affecting the rest of Catalonia and Spain for a couple of weeks it seems that her days are numbered but until then you can still leave snow at lower altitudes. Tomorrow may fall in Girona snow above 200 meters, while in the Pyrenees the lowest level will rise to 300 meters and in other parts of the coastal and littoral to 500. However, on Wednesday will install the sun and the weather will be warmer and drier.
The General Directorate of Civil Protection (GDPC) of the Government has activated the alert phase of the emergency plan for snow NEUCAT following two warnings (level 1 and level 2-the highest-) of the Meteorological Service of Catalonia (SMC ) and the damages that may arise, from tomorrow morning and tomorrow morning. Provision is significant snowfall on the northern side of the Pyrenees that will be shifting to the northeast.
The new episode of snow will affect mainly the Pyrenees, especially in the Vall d'Aran and High Ribagorça culd where thick will be greater than 40 inches above 1,500 meters. At the same time, the minimum temperatures are low and in specific instances coastal and littoral even have registered the lowest in recent days, as was the case Orís (Barcelona) with -11.4 degrees Celsius and in the Girona Vall d'en Bas (-10.9 degrees) and Fornells de la Selva (-10.4 degrees). In fact, up to 68% of the stations of the network of the SMC have registered a minimum temperature falling within the consideration of weather conditions of risk.
The prediction indicates that the thermometers tend to rise during the next few days, but the atmosphere still remain "very cold", and the rise will be more evident during the end of week. What
Time change from Wednesday
Starting Wednesday install the anticyclone over the mainland, will bring dry weather, sunny and, at least for now, with no hint of rain, according to the Meteorological Agency (AEMET). Thus AEMET spokesman, Angel Rivera, explained that the wind will be weaker and that at dawn on Tuesday rotates the upper wind from northeast to north. This wind is accompanied by a cold front will enter through the north of the peninsula and on Tuesday will cover the northern half, but gradually shedding throughout the day.
Rivera noted that this is a front "unimportant", the most significant rainfall expected in the western Pyrenees and Cantabrian area and east of Castile and Leon, the Iberian and north of Guadalajara. Most of this precipitation will be moderate in areas of the Cantabrian High Ebro, Castile and Leon. Specifically, the most significant and have led to the orange alert (significant risk) will be the Bay of Biscay, north of Castilla y Leon and Aragon southern and northern Castilla-La Mancha, which could leave between 8 and 10 inches of snow, while in the remaining areas will be "very weak". Thus, the snow level will range between 300 and 600 meters north and northeast and between 600 and 900 meters in other areas.
As the wind blow on Tuesday from the north, mainly affect the northeast of the peninsula, north of the Balearic Islands, mountainous northern peninsula. "The air is warmer, with about 3 or 4 degrees Celsius more than the present and, having clouds and wind chill will remain cold, but not as much as in previous days," he said.
AEMET spokesman added that on Wednesday, this will tend to decrease and fall some rain to the north and the wind will tend to decrease. He also said that there could a shower of character "weak and unimportant" in the Mediterranean. Already on Thursday, as noted, the situation stabilizes, dominate the anticyclone and the wind almost cease. Thus, added that no precipitation is expected almost anywhere in the Spanish territory and at least will reach well into the weekend.
Regarding temperatures, said that from Monday to Tuesday, rising to about three or four degrees Celsius maximum and the minimum to remain stationary after the remainder of the week, which added to the decrease of the wind, "will improve enough wind chill ". Rivera has specified that the range of temperatures will be between 10 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and 13 degrees Celsius at the end of the week in the Bay of Biscay; of 6 or 7 to 9 or 10 degrees Celsius in Castile and Leon, 10 to 13 degrees Celsius in the Ebro Valley and Madrid, from 13 to 15 degrees Celsius in Castilla-La Mancha and Extremadura, from 15 to 18 degrees Celsius in Andalusia and the Mediterranean south.
In the northern half of the Mediterranean area thermometers will be between 11 to 15 degrees this weekend, as in the Balearics. "At the moment, what is unseen is no rainy season, which are still missing, so this will be a week dry, but more pleasant in terms of temperatures," he summarized.
On the other hand, AEMET spokesman noted that in the early hours of Monday the minimum reached -10.3 degrees Celsius in Albacete, -9.2 degrees in Granada -8.6 degrees at Avila, - 8.2 degrees Celsius in Salamanca and -8 degrees Celsius in Girona.
