Barcelona. (EFE). - While still not recovered from the Siberian cold snap, Catalunya is prepared to live another cold weekend with a new injection of cold air that will further lower temperatures, causing frost almost generalized although forecasts suggest almost no snowfall.
The prediction indicates that the cold wave will intensify towards the weekend and although Friday morning temperatures will rise slightly over the last few hours in some parts of Catalunya on Saturday will go down moderately throughout and mercury will collapse for Sunday, with widespread frost in the interior will be strong, has advanced the Meteorological Service of Catalonia (SMC).
Given this prediction, the SMC maintains activated weather alert status at level 2 risk for cold snap. This new entry will be dry cold air in the territory, although in some areas of coastal and littoral intervals of clouds will form and it is possible that during the afternoon and evening of Friday morning shower can drop a point of local coast of Tarragona, with a coat of snow around 400 meters.
It is also possible that between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning showers fall also to be local to the coastal and littoral points, which could become as snow or hail even at sea level elevation
Today the frosts have gone back to get almost all Catalunya and the coldest was recorded in the Empordà, some valleys of the Pyrenees and points located on the flat of Lleida.
The minimum temperature has fallen below zero degrees in almost all Catalunya, excluding the areas closest to the Ebro Delta, the center of Barcelona and Maresme Baix points. With the exception of the coastline, was the tenth consecutive night below zero in Catalunya.
During the last hours, the north wind has loosened up almost calm in most regions, even in the Alt Empordà, which had blown over during the week. This, together with the low presence of clouds throughout the morning has made the temperature falling rapidly in the flat lowlands and the interior, and much of the coastline.
In contrast, during the morning continued moderate mistral blowing in Terres de l'Ebre, which has mitigated the drop in temperature in this sector.
The minimum temperature is again located between -5 and -10 degrees inside, with values below -10 in most of the valleys of the Pyrenees, although in high mountain areas, the thermometer has gone to above in comparison with previous mornings.
The lowest temperatures recorded today by the stations of the network of automatic weather stations to correspond to the valleys of the Pyrenees: the Vielha -13.1 (the Vall d'Aran) or -12.9 Das (Cerdanya).
Other points where the last morning was the coldest in the episode are: Cabanes (-6.0); Castelló d'Empúries (-6.2); Espolla (-6.8) Roses (-4.2) , Sant Pere Pescador (-6.1); Ventalló (-6.8), Sant Martí Sarroca (-5.6); Oliana (-9.8), The Pont de Suert (-11.0); La Bisbal d'Empordà (-5.4); The Carved d'Empordà (-6.4), Serra de Daró (-5.1), L'Estartit (-5.1); Alcanar (-0.5); Ulldecona-Els Valentins (-2.8); Algerri (-8.7); Baldomar (-10.0), Sort (-8.7); The Poal (-8.7) Segúries Sant Pau (- 10.2); Alcarràs (-7.8); Lladurs (-10.0) or Constantí (-5.7).
