Todo este proyecto el gestionarían ellas mismas, constituidas como cooperativa. También pasarían a formar parte del proyecto la cooperativa iacta (que aportaría asesoramiento jurídico) y ETCS (que formaría las mujeres).
Ellas mismas reconocen que se trata de una propuesta "ambiciosa" y que sería una novedad en Barcelona "a pesar de que ya hay experiencias similares en otros lugares, como Holanda", según explica María Palomares, directora de la entidad Calala. Esta asociación, que da apoyo a diferentes colectivos de mujeres, ha orientado las prostitutas en la preparación y redacción del proyecto. La propuesta es ambiciosa porque reclama la cesión del edificio y un pago de 50.000 euros para rehabilitarlo y sufragar los gastos de funcionamiento. Y también es ambiciosa porque conllevaría la apertura de un nuevo prostíbulo en la ciudad vieja, una actividad prohibida por el Plan de Usos.
La idea de presentar la propuesta nació de una invitación del propio Ayuntamiento. A través de ABITS, la agencia municipal que aborda la prostitución en la ciudad, el Consistorio pidió a las prostitutas que presentaran una propuesta para aspirar a un programa que va acompañado de una subvención de 12.000 euros anuales. Pero ellas lo rechazaron. "Pidieron que no pusiéramos nada ni de prostitución ni del Raval. Porque su objetivo es expulsarlas del barrio y enviarlas no sabemos dónde ", lamenta Palomares. "El Ayuntamiento quería utilizarnos para colgarse una medalla, pero nosotros no queremos dinero, queremos un lugar donde trabajar", reivindica Janet, portavoz de las prostitutas del Raval, organizadas bajo el nombre Putas Indignadas.

La pugna entre las prostitutas que se resisten a abandonar el Raval y el Ayuntamiento, que tiene otros planes, dura desde hace años.
