The conflict has led to a mining strike. UGT and CCOO have called a strike on Monday 18 June in all sectors of the mining districts of Asturias, Castilla y Leon and Aragon. The unions intensify protests and now have returned to cause cuts in Asturias and Leon roads and the railway line linking Madrid and the Principality.
The general strike promoted by the county unions UGT and CCOO in the affected regions, has been held yesterday after the holding of a meeting of the Plan Monitoring Committee of the Coal Industry and between unions. The representatives of the workers refused to enter only afford the assistance of a member of each federation. The secretary general of CCOO in Asturias, Antonio Pino, says that until now had always come full delegations to the complaint that this shows that the Government is willing to solve problems. "No other solution allows us to call a general strike," he added.
For Jose Manuel Camporro, general secretary of the Regional Union of UGT Nalón's attitude yesterday was "the straw that broke the camel's back". Camporro indicates that UGT would have preferred that the general strike had taken place on 31 May, coinciding with the demonstration in Madrid against the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism. Recognizes that gave the date to maintain the unity of action with CCOO and have finally managed to agree a day.

On this conflict has spoken this morning the secretary general of the PSOE, Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba, who has asked the Executive to sit to talk with the miners. The socialist leader has indicated that "all governments have always sought dialogue and agreement on this issue." Industry Minister, José Manuel Soria, a week ago was "open to dialogue." "The government remains fully prepared to reach an agreement with union representatives and business of mining," he said, but recalled that the budget cuts have produced widely across government. The adjustment to the sector, according to the minister, "is similar to that provided and executed in 2011."
But after weeks of protests the agreement has not been possible. The arrests gave way isolated from June 1 to an indefinite strike in the sector of coal mining. The miners do not share the minister's statements and accuse the government of violating the Master Plan for 2006-2012 Coal Mining 63% by cutting aid to the sector in the Budget of this year. Unions warn that these cuts will cause the closure of farms this year. The Federal Secretary of Energy IU, Adolfo Barrena, totaled more than 12,000 direct jobs are in danger. The workers claim that if the government maintains its position will continue with the demonstrations.
