French Finance Minister, Pierre Moscovici, agrees with the proposal from the European Commission is in favor of the European rescue fund to recapitalize banks directly without going through the states. Paris hopes that this is "one of the decisions of the forthcoming summit" of the European Union to be held later this month, Moscovici said today in Brussels after meeting with Commissioner Olli Rehn Finance. It recalled that the option of the European Stability Mechanism (MEDE) inject money directly into banks without going through the states is not covered by the treaty approved the establishment of the fund.
Moscovici has stated that it is "a fundamental issue," and has also supported the idea of the Commission to implement the European Union and bank last week defended its president, Jose Manuel Durao Barroso, a step that would involve more oversight and regulation at the continental level, the creation of a fund to meet the financial sector crisis and a common guarantee of all bank deposits.
Paris defends the direct mechanisms of lending to banks in trouble because, as explained Moscovici, "will see more clearly the status of a number of banks, including the Spanish, and help them more easily."
French President François Hollande, and defended the possibility that Spanish banks were recapitalised with European aid two weeks ago in Washington when asked about the crisis of Bankia, though his words caused a misunderstanding with Madrid and the Spanish prime minister, Mariano Rajoy replied that perhaps the French leader had data on Spanish banks that he had.
